Mystery quilt anyone? ........

Recommended Posts

Hi Sally, ready for the next bit it's fun so don't get traumatised by having to cut your lovely squares up.

Step 1 We are going to draw round the template.

Place it on the top left corner with the lines I've drawn on the template lined up with the seams. :D Then draw round the template.

Now move to next corner and do the same working across and down the quilt. :D

Carry on until you have done every corner. :D Have a look again at the photos on previous post to see some more. :D

Forgot to say keep going across middle of quilt as well.

When I did it some lines overlapped. That's because I didn't follow my own advice and the squares were just a bit smaller than they should be. If that happens to you worry not, I'll tell you what to do. :D

Only God is perfect. :D

Step 2 Shut chickens, cats and dogs that are likely to sit on your work out. and if you can put it on something like a jigsaw board or where you can leave it without it getting disturbed then all the better.

Your are now going to cut along all the lines but keep the pieces in the same place. If like me your lines overlap  just cut between them. :D

That wasn't so bad was it.

Step 3 Now we are going to remove all the triangles from the outside and the little squares in the middle of the blocks your work will now look like this.

Save the little squares and you can use them on a miniature version. Only joking but one person from the group is doing just that.:lol:

I'm going to have a bath so let me know if you want me to post any more tonight or shall we save the reveal for tomorrow. You are going to be so pleased with what happens. :D

Ok, I'm not God & my stitching isn't perfect  but as my Dad says, "a blind man would be glad to see it!"

As you may remember I have killed my camera & am waiting for hubby to "win" one on ebay, I'd have made an offer on one about 20 miles down the road last week, but he's waiting til it nearly finishes....sorry, I digress.... my piece is red, navy & turquoise with a navy & white gingham border:

N NAVY & WHITE GINGHAM N

A A

V turq red navy turq V

Y Y

& navy turq red navy &

W W

H red navy turq red H

I I

T NAVY & WHITE GINGHAM T

Plum, I'll pm you for the template for the scary cutting bit

Do I need to get more specific with the stitching between the squares or will I be ok? I'll play if you think I need to....just not tonight, I need some sleep  !!

Oh no no no no no, Plummy, I have to have a go at this. As if I don't have enough to do

My Tuesday night patchwork class is a catch up for those that are behind. Unfortunately, I am not behind  so need to take something to occupy myself. This looks like it could be just the thing. Pretty Please could I also have a template? :D

:lol: I have no idea what you are talking about :lol: What were you drinking last night :?

I've replied to your pm and will get your template in the post today. :D

I wasn't drinking anything when I typed it up, the gobbledegook showed up fairly clearly how my patchwork had been arranged........I have so got to get a camera  It obviously looks better than the "diagram" shows!!! DD got up this morning & was very complimentary

Thanks Plum, it's here...I just have to finish the 101 other jobs then I can settle down for a mark & cut session! Is it vital that I have perfect corners? 3 or 4 are slightly out.........

May just have to invest in a tailors chalk pencil or similar as I have no idea where mine have disappeared to and the colours I chose are too dark to use most of my pens  , DH will love going to C&H Fabrics when we meet in town for a coffee date later
