after the disapointment of thinking we had hatched 2 cockerals it turns out one is actually a hen, the lighter of the 2, pheew !!

At least you got 1 girl. they look lovely. i haven't let my chicks free range yet. i feel a little protective. And 1 of them refuses to get off my arm if i let her out anyway.

these are French Wheaton Marans, I've seen the cock and hens at the farm and these match their colours... phew !

Yes, what I was saying was that some Wheaton Marans hatch with some black feathers, and the colour is described as Silver Wheaton......the ones with black can be girls or boys (you said in another thread that the black one must be a boy)........anyway, hope they're both girls for you
