Cinnamon
That picture of Madonna looks far too stylised for my liking. I wouldn't be suprised if they were stunt chickens
Mel (& Paul)
Like the ones in the car advert??
Cinnamon
Just for fun I Googled "celebrities who keep chickens", & look what I found. http://www.park2parkla.com/030801/chickens/coyoteroller.cfm Not a celeb who keeps chickens, but a very interesting looking chicken pen....it would certainly solve our chicken keeping problem! The Dogmother
Good idea, but wouldn't an Eglu be more decorative?
Lesley
I thought the eglu might go inside it Clare!

Mel (& Paul)
She's not an effusive egg layer for nothing you know (try and say that after a glass or two of home made elderberry wine
Popcorn
I've just realised why you have a glass of wine so early on in the day Mel (sorry - just going off topic for a second, and not that I'm suggesting anything) ...but I reckon it's because you get up about 4 hours before everybody else, so really your 4pm is really like our 8pm
Mel (& Paul)
Actually that is kind of true (not the wine bit - honest, I've got a cup of tea in front of me at the moment!) but I do often eat my sandwiches at about 10am - and that, unfortunately leads to a trip to the sweetie shop
The Dogmother
Sounds like one of our consultants at work Mel, he eats his packed lunch at about 10.30am, then goes down the road for a baked potato or fish, chips and mushy peas. He also eats biscuits during the day - but never seems to put on any weight - oh, the unfairness of it all!
Popcorn
Yeah, but I bet his personality isn't a patch on yours Clare

Mel (& Paul)
Paul's the same - he eats loads but is still slim. Not fair wah wah wah
kannie
I saw a pic in the paper the other day showing John Peel with chickens. And there's Bill Turnbull, from the morning news.
Cinnamon
http://www.henhouses.co.uk/hurdles.html This is another really good looking chicken run, for the Eglu to go INSIDE !
Penny
Oh good, not just me then! I wear - my penguin nightie - green wellies - large waterproof jacket with hood - jogging bottoms with NO PANTS And always carry a jug of water to top them up. Neighbours must be agog -we live in an Edinburgh tenement and our garden is a goldfish bowl at the best of times.

The Dogmother
I do more or less the same, Penny, we are in a Victorian house, with gardens side by side, so the neighbours have a good laugh - but then they are used to me chopping wood and mowing the lawn in my bikini in the summer - multi-tasking at it's finest! Mel (& Paul)
I think the closest I ever got to getting arrested was when we first had the girls. They refused to go into the eglu try as we might, on the first night. Although it was a warm night we were obviously worried new parents. I couldnt sleep so at midnight got up, went outside, saw they were all in the eglu snoozing away and tiptoed across the garden to shut the coop door. I have to say the only things I had on was a pair of slippers Now I am far more elegent in my jogging bottoms, wellies and s"Ooops, word censored!"ed back hair
Popcorn
You were streaking No wonder you're putting your house up for sale, I bet the neighbours can't look you in the eye can they?
Cinnamon
Mel, if the chickens had seen you, they could have been put off their lay for DAYS! SHAME ON YOU !
The Dogmother
I like your spirit Mel - Kindred chickens, us! Don't think I could get away with that in our house - I have outside lights with PIR sensors in the back garden - they'd come on when I went out!
