Lily sings "chuck chuck chuck chuck chicken, lay a little egg for me".. i am not sure if it helped but its cute!

Ha ha yeah Hannah told me the other day that there's no wonder Beaky isn't laying us eggs yet because I haven't sung the song to her in ages!! We went out and sang it immediately Lucy (just turned 2) was heard last week saying very firmly 'no frighten me, chickens' so I think they have cleared the air and are best of friends now

Yes she is, Hannah had decided she wanted one white, one 'ginger' and one black - but she changed her mind when she saw the bluebelles with their pretty feathers! I feel I should point out Mrs Little is in the background, and Butterfly is just peeking over Lucy's shoulder - I'd hate to leave them out !!!! chick wiggle
Patience Katie, patience. We only had one that was laying until Friday and my daughter rang me to say 'WE HAVE 2 EGGS!!!' Oh we were soooo excited. And this morning we found out who the 2nd culprit was. Blossom, bless her, is the sweetest most docile little chook, the one who always comes for a stroke and sits on your knee while she eats corn out of your hand, and now shes giving us eggs too along with Big Dora. I have to say Big Dora really is a big one, who sounds like shes been on 20 a day for 10 years! more of a growl than a gently bok
katieadams
Ha ha a growling chicken - you should have called her Deirdre not Dora I'm finding the wait easier to bear now Beaky is crouching - I feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel at last! And her dance is so amusing I almost forgive her I've never had a s"Ooops, word censored!" of patience, this is actually very patient for me!!! Have you made your plans for what you are doing with it?? Boil, poach, fry???? Ours was boilded and eaten by Lily within 20 mins of being laid It wasdeclared "Delicious" by Lily, I did not get a taste! It will be fried (we've had plenty of time to think about it!!) because unlike the other methods I can do a fried egg perfectly every single time and this egg will not be an egg to risk over cooking!!!!! We have a book running in the house - I've got Thursday, my husband has Tuesday (don't know whether to hope I'm right or he is ). Maybe I should do a thread with a poll!!!
