Very excited! We've ordered a WIR.

Recommended Posts

Hello

We've decided to get a WIR so we can enjoy our garden this summer, without stepping in chicken poo!

Our three free range whenever someone's home, as I don't feel happy about keeping them in the Eglu run all day. The plan with the WIR is to keep them in there for more of the day but still let them free range either first thing or last thing.

We ordered it from aviaries 4u.co.yk and it's coming in about 5 weeks. Can't wait!

Congratulations :D:clap::dance: . You'll be delighted with it :D . My chickens don't seem bothered about free-ranging nowadays - they often go out for a bit but then head back "indoors" .

We need details though, size & type of doors, poo tray flaps or not, etc, etc :D . I've not got a run to plan any more so need someone else's to coo over  .

Are you building it yourself?

Thanks for the positive response!

It's a fairly basic one actually. 8' long, 4' wide and 6' high with one door. That's it! My OH is going to make a table for the Eglu to stand on and we'll put some perches in, but apart from that, it's pretty simple. Will make life much easier though!

We live too far away for aviaries4u to assemble it for us, so it'll be delivered by courier and my OH will put it together, bless him!

You won't regret it. My girls don't even bother trying to rush the door now as they are permanently in the run. They have more than enough space to wander round and they seem more chilled out now. They actually spend time just sitting down  they never did that before. :D
