Recommended Posts

Hello, got two gingernut rangers over a week ago,"Mary & "Maggie" they are now 19wks old. Not laying yet, have let them free range most afternoons for about 4hours but cannot believe how much they poo! my lovely patio!!!!! this would be the only negative to having chickens in a small urban garden.

I have an old plastic spatula that is kept hanging by the compost bin that i use to s"Ooops, word censored!"e down their dirt tray each morning and in the evening i use it to poo pick the garden using a deft flick to wing the droppings into the flower beds. It's a kind of chicken croquet or golf and I am getting quite skilled at it! Only works for the solid(ish) ones though and not the horrible 'chip shop curry sause' variety!

My OH has walked chicken poo through the house tonight and its really freaked him out! He's even thrown out the shoes. It had to happen sooner or later!

I told him, he needs a pair of chook shoes by the back door like I've got. I mean you can clean it up, but you'll always miss a bit, its the same with the dog!

I've got a pair of those welly shoes they're perfect for that - I scoffed at my mother for them but now they're mine and I love them!!!

I must admit I was shocked by the amount that my girls produced. My O/H is getting sick of the amount by the door too. We had heavy rain last night so that's washed a lot away but I think I might need to take up Chick Poo Golf too!

What with sheep, chickens and dogs my days are spent surrounded by poo

Great idea, Ruskie! Could become a new competitive sport. Although knowing my bad aim, it would fly over the fence into the neighbour's garden, or even worse, onto the neighbour...

It is quite amazing how much they do. I had a lovely couple visit me the other day who had looked for people to visit from the forum list, as they are thinking of getting a cube or an eglu. I didn't clean out the trays, I left them to show them just how much the girls do  . They were really 8) about it, so at least I have prepared them for that part :D
