Seagazer Posted July 13, 2009 Share Posted July 13, 2009 As I said I was very pleased, he has had extra help in the past from the school as although he absorbs lots of information (he's like a walking encyclopedia) he has trouble putting it down onto paper. His spelling is really bad. But his reading has always been much higher than everything else so to do well in the other subjects is just the icing on the cake. It makes me feel that perhaps he could do better in exams than he did in his secondary transfer test. So we are all very pleased. He's very competitive when it comes to his elder brother, so I think he's relieved to have got the same as he did (even though that was 4years ago). Well done to all the Year 6's no matter what the result My son was much the same at that age, he really struggled with anything involving writing at primary level, and was on the special needs register. He is now at the end of yr 8 and doing very well in sciences and a few other subjects. English and other languages are still his weak points, but considering he is at a high achieving grammar school he is really holding his own and exceling in a couple of areas. I've taken mine out after GCSEs and A levels, but not SATs. Great idea! Is Rosie really doing a whole week at secondary? I've not heard of that being done. DS spent a day at his. It is so frustrating at times as he loves learning about new things and we feel he's not reaching his full potential at the moment, if that makes sense.
