Angels4
Just been out sitting with the girls, and Coco is looking very different than her/his sisters. All of the girls (and Coco) are eight weeks old, but her/his saddle feathers are quite different, her/his comb is much larger, and I swear I see little nubs of spurs growing at the back of her/his legs. Coco is the BO at the back, right behind Chanel. What do you all think?
Griffin
That's a lot of head gear for 8 weeks! I'd say Coco is a boy I'n afraid.
Angels4
That's a lot of head gear for 8 weeks! I'd say Coco is a boy I'n afraid. I thought so too. Actually they were 8 weeks when I picked them up this past Sunday so the picture from today they are actually 9 weeks, but I'm thinking that is still alot of comb for her/his age. I sure hope it isn't so.
Egluntyne
I fear you might be right. The stance is rather blokeish too.
Plum
That's a blow for you or would you not mind?
Angels4
It would be a major blow, as I'm not allowed to have roosters...
feemcg
Looks like a boy to me by the drooping saddle feathers.....they also look a bit older than 8/9 weeks
vikchick
yes they look alot bigger than mine which are 8 weeks and have nothing like as much comb even the ones which i think are boys i will post some pics of mine asap as i also need help
Falkor
I would say boy too. I got my Buff Orp at 11 weeks and she had no where near the face furniture that Coco has! Mind you, OSH, my jubilee Orp is seven months + and still has very little face furniture, she is a girl though as she lays eggs!
Angels4
Looks like I'll be contacting the breeder then. I wonder if she has any of the Easter Eggers left.
Plum
Are they ones that lay chocolate eggs
Angels4
A hybrid of Aracuna. I bet Coco will be a beautiful boy.
feemcg
They all end being beautiful boys Mark, I so wish I could keep mine.
Angels4
I've had a conversation with the breeder and she is in fact willing to swap Coco for a Brown Leghorn pullet. I'm thinking this should be done sooner rather than later as I'm not wanting to have to go through introductions. Do you think if I make the swap this weekend it will go smoothly? Seagazer
What a shame Mark. I haven't done any introductions so I don't know but I wish you good luck. Beautiful looking chooks though.
