Do you know exactly what your OH's objection to more hens is? Is it just a blanket no, or does he have a specific concern that's worrying him? If you could get him to be specific - I find difficult conversations are best had when you are driving, not sitting opposite each other - then you might be able to work away and break down the objections.

I ordered some more chickens, and then cancelled the order when OH and myself agreed that it wasn't the right time for more. The email didn't go through though to cancel them, and "Ooops, word censored!"ody on this forum believes me , so I had 4 hens delivered to my house as a suprise which I knew nothing about .

I can't help as my DH didn't need persuading to get any more as he decided he wanted two more for his Fathers Day present last year, then a few months later wanted to know when we were getting more and then the same again in January. He often sneaks out to see them and is another one found digging up worms for them He also wants us to get green and pure white egg layers but it's me who has put their foot down and said no.

Wow thanks for all your replies everyone! I'm just sitting here chuckling to myself about the various suggestions...getting him drunk is one I feel could really work...Oh, and I love Elguntines 'Get some similar ones and keep them moving!'

 

It's amazing how many of us have started small and then gradually sneaked in a few more here and there - they really are addictive.

 

I think I'm getting there- I've already re-worked the garden around the chooks including moving a swing seat, digging up a lawn to give them more room, and now fencing off the entire end of the garden for them...so bit by bit I'm chipping away at him It's only a matter of time now

think i have solved the holiday problem, delivered a few boxes of eggs to neighbours, hey presto one came round with her daughter to see hens and i think i hooked them , they loved the eglu too, think i will drop a brochure in they dont know all the colours yet, still to sort the extra chicken problem, like the sound of the cuddly one, is it hard to introduce one on its own , if not is the eglu and run big enough for four , can't let them out unatended as we have residant fox who has already poked his nose into garden twice in one morning when dogs were inside, so many questions but they soon become your babies don't they.
