Ygerna
Amy has come off the nest I've got the eggs out and am trying to keep them warm. Does anyone have or know off an incubator for hire? I would desperatly love to be able to save these eggs/chicks if possible. Please, can anyone help? I am in Surrey edit to add location-thanks Jules Edited May 26, 2009 by Guest

WitchHazel
Hi, Not sure whereabouts in Surrey you are, but Alison from Hook Farm hires incubators http://www.chickenkeeper.co.uk/incubator-hire.html She's at Hook, Hampshire

Ygerna
Got one! Spoke to Alison at Hook Farm. I've driven down, collected it and just this moment got back and plugged it in. Hopefully I've managed to keep them warm enough in the meantime. Just want to say a big thanks to those who replied with details.
Lewis
Good luck. I hope you caught them in time. Eggs have been un-incubated and been fine for up to 6 hours, so they should be alright. How long have they been set for?
Ygerna
Just a little update. Amy got back onto the nest when she went to bed that night, and stayed there the next day too so I popped two eggs under her. She is still sitting on them now. I make sure I put food and water in for her in the morning. I have two eggs in the Incy, which I candled yesterday and was very excited to see that they are both viable, with movement visible from both chicks. As for the ones under Amy, I have no idea but it is exciting I have ordered a rabbit hutch, which I am going to put into my summer house. My plan is place amy in it, with her two eggs but keep the other two eggs in the incubator until day 18, then slip them under Amy. Hopefully this wont upset her, and if/when they hatch she will look after them. I have a heat lamp and large box on standby if she doesnt. Ygerna
We are now down to 3 possible chicks. Amy is now in her nursery hutch, with all three eggs. She seems to have settled onto the nest so, fingers crossed that by Monday we have chicks. I lost an egg today, when I candled it, I found a fracture of the shell. It is one of the eggs that Amy has been sat on. Its a shame, but, thats the way of nature.

Ygerna
Indeed there is! We have one chick, well, at the moment, keeping fingers crossed we get at least one more to make sure that he/she wont be lonely. She (being optimistic) is so adorable, golden brown/yellow in colour and she came from a pale creamy beige egg. I have not worked out what breed she is yet but she is lovely. I've introduced her to the children and hubby, all of whom were amazed by her. Will get a photo as soon as hubbys camera is charged, I dropped my camera last week
atsw
Excellent news . We looked after some hatching eggs during half-term week for friends in the village. One hatched while we were looking after them, which was great fun. Kids were very excited. One of our Orps has just gone broody, so might pop some fertile eggs under her and she what happens!
