Gemma has pushed out a crushed bit of shell

Recommended Posts

so something must have hatched - had a feather downy bit on it as well plus a bit of blood :? Not been too persistant to look under her - she wasn't that keen so not sure if chick is still alive under her or not :(

Anyway something has happened. Will lift her up later - need to pick up from school :(

I replied on your other post - which one are we using for news of the possible hatchling?

Don't worry have read both. Believe me if I find more I will be shouting it from the rooftops. There was only a speck of blood really, not a lot and it did look pretty much like half a egg shell so I think it hatched naturally.

Going to go and have a peek - know I should leave her but have left her for a good couple of hours now

Sorry folks had to pick up a friend's little girl from school and ended up round their house for tea. I came back for a quick visit but Gemma isn't letting me see much - I presume that that is good :D

I think there is definately one chick - picked her up slightly and there was a fluffy thing, think it moved :) Not heariing a lot of cheeping though :? Tried to look again later but Gemma is fluffing up like a pancake and pecking me - managed to see two eggs still so two are definately still unhatched but she moved those back under her quickly.

Tomorrow will tell.

Can I shunt her out to eat and drink when she has chicks? Will put chick crumb in eglu house tomorrow, they have a small jar lid with marbles and water in there for tonight :D
