tidygirlsuk
My Lavender pekin wouldn't snap out of the broodiness. So i gave her an egg from my white pekin and she moved it and sat on it. i know that they only eat, drink and poo once a day while boody but i haven't seen her eat or drink since. I've lifted her off but she still doesn't do either. i guess that she is doing so, because she is pooing. advise would be very welcome. I know the chance of us getting a chick is very slim but it's worth a shot, we've got the space, and would keep it, even if it was a cockerel. The egg: My cockerel is a lavender and the girl is a white pekin, what possible colour chick could come from this ?
Redwing
Why not give her some sacrifical eggs to sit on while you accumulate a few more fertilised ones and check that she will stick at sitting on the others? One chick on its own would be very lonely

tidygirlsuk
Thank you. i know that my chances are slim. So i won't be to disappointed if nothing happens. I'd feel bad for her though. Will she just give up if nothing happens ?

Will she just give up if nothing happens ? She will probably try for the 21 days, they sometimes come off and know that nothing is going to happen, sometimes you'll need to take the eggs away and she'll get the idea. Hopefully you won't need to do that, and will get chicks
tidygirlsuk
I really want chicks now as we've put a few more under her. 1 cream legbar, 1 plymouth rock (barred), 2 silver grey dorkin. I so hope that she doesn't get fed up because we haven't got an incubator

I've had a look at the website you sent me but haven't got around to emailing him about postage. I'll wait untill the parentals are back from Paris and see if they'll take me! It was Poultry Park in Newent, Gloucestershire, just in case anyone was interested in the future
