I desperately want to get some of the rescue hens from norfolk. I have a cube with an extention on the run and 5 chickens. They are in the run all day until about 4 o'clock when they free range and longer on weekends. My question is how many rescue hens do you think i could get to eventually be put in with my other girls?

To be honest I would say 5 chickens already in a run with an extension was enough. You do not want them to be too cramped as that would cause pecking and miserable hens. If you really want some more I would maybe consider getting another extension or two first.

I would only get more if you were going to extend the run. I have eight girls in my cubes at the moment with the standard run and two extensions. They are only locked up because the W-I-R is under construction and we have had the builders in. Usually they are out and about all day.

I agree with what has been said...also, intros can be tricky and the more space the better.

I knew in my head that i didnt have room for more but my heart is screaming to help those poor little rescue hens.

Just need to convince hubby he can actually build one if he really tries now

I have 3 in my standard run, and they definitely need more space, hence my WIR planning, as I want more girls and can only let then free range for a few hours a day.
