tooties
I have two ex-batts, one of whom has sterile peritonitis and the other keeps laying softees. Lilly who has SP doesn't appear to be suffering at the moment, she just has a fat bottie, so while shes happy, I'm happy. However, Flopsy keeps laying softees and she feels very poorly till shes passed everything she needs to. She doesn't always pass shell, sometimes its just the yolk. I have been feeding them mash, then went on to the ex-batt crumbs, I was wondering, as this is equivalent to 'layers pellets' if there was a non-laying food I could give them - would that help stop them forming eggs? I'm not bothered about the eggs, I just want healthy chickens. I think I've/they've been incredibly unlucky, I've only had my ex-batts for three mths - ones died of suspected peritonitis, one has SP and the other is only laying softees now and suffering for the privilege. Would it help if I changed their food? (BTW, I couldn't give them anymore supplements if I tried!! zolcal D, limestone flour, cod liver oil, crushed up egg shell and grit among others are given regularly)
