Pickling eggs - any tips?

Recommended Posts

I have never pickled eggs but I sure do like eating them. I am very sure that though that you just boil and sling in vinegar...I thnk the main issue would be a clean jar - like when you do jam. I think I may try it - I LOVE pickled eggs...thanks for reminding me!

Sarsons do a pickling spice mix to add to the vinegar.

I usually hard boil the eggs, then heat the vinegar with the spices and allow to cool. Fill a sterilized jar with the eggs and top up with the cooled liquid. Keep it somewhere cool and dark for at least 2-3 months. Enjoy! :D:D

I'm intrigued, I remember the huge jar of pickled eggs on the counter of the local fish and chip shop when I was little. No-one ever seemed to buy them, as the jar was always full :?

A quick google revealed the following;

**this site**

**and this one**

There's even a pickled egg website, http://www.pickledeggs.co.uk I've obviously led a sheltered life :lol:

I want to try making these now, what do you eat them with? Salad?

:D
