damaged/infected air sacs alternative suggestions please

Recommended Posts

My ex bat has very probable air sac damage therefore poss infection, though she was a Jan release I've only had her since good Friday.

She has had an antibiotic jab, which made no difference to her wheezing. The Vet can hear a def rattle and thinks Monday possibly sounds a tad better.

I have had Orego Stim in the main water since day one .

I put citricidal in to start but often put in separate water pot, but not really sure of the dose needed.

She sometimes has anti inflam if her limp is bad.

She is good, no signs of anything nasty, no mucus, no bad eyes, no sneezing, eats well.

:D

Sometimes you can hear"nothing" but mostly she sounds like she has emphesimia...

or is a very large person that smokes heavily & is struggling with the stairs.

Any suggestions woulds be apreciated, if anyone thinks something else might help. :)

I don't know I'm afraid. Does she limp as well as wheeze? Is the chicken called Monday, or has there been a change since Monday, I don't understand.

I would go with what your vet says as not one of the more common problems I've seen on here. I don't know if your vet has much poultry experience, or if they've advised anything further. It might be worth asking on the Practical Poultry forum or asking your vet again.

hi and thanks for reading. :)

To clarify..

She was seen 1st Easter Sat, and had a check up the Monday before I posted.

No, no change she is fine.

Yes she does limp as one leg has fused overlapping making it shorter than the other.

Don't know how old the break is/was as I didn't have her straight away :(

Just wheezes, clealy more so when laying and extra pressure poor love.

Vet is brill...

Just with the fantastic breadth of experience on here, I thought someone MAY have had similar problem and another bright idea of something I should add or try.

Am guessing t'other forum would recommend culling her.(often do! :( )

My thought is she will just rattle & wheeze, to the end of her time I suspect a respiratory infection may take hold, also I will have to watch for same and treat IMMEDIATATLY.(hence have Baytril on hand incase it is Sunday, Bank holiday or my vet off :) )

As she is not poorly, I would like to keep it that way. :)

Am also guessing as no suggestions I have everything covered. :) (I hope) :)
