Raina
Hi all, I have some wood on top of most of the perches in the eglu (posted a topic a while ago about it) Well today looked in the nest box, No Egg, but i just spotted something on the wood,i bent down and there was an egg! It's the first time she has done this! Do you think she stuck her bum out of the nest box while laying or did she just stay on the wood to lay it. Thanks, Raina
Ain't Nobody Here
Sometimes eggs get laid on the roosting bars (perhaps they're caught short ) or another hen will turf it out of the nestbox . I'm curious, why do you have wood on top of the perches? (I must have missed your post about it .)
Raina
lol Lady Lay had hurt her legs on the perches (we had to take her to the vets) I put the wood on to stop her from hurting her self even more. I took the wood out a couple of days ago, and since i've done that i've had no eggs laid on the perches lol

Lewis
Could you not just take the roosting bars out instead of putting wood across the top? It would have the same effect, but you could then put shavings, aubiose or straw in the poo tray to make it more comfortable
