Hi all,

 

 

I've read that people give their chickens Garlic powder to help stop their (the Chickens) poo from smelling!

 

 

Well, i did give the girls Garlic powder to start with and their poo & Coop smelt really bad, so i stopped giving it to them.But since they haven't had any garlic Powder their poo & Coop no longer smell

 

Is this Normal or do i have strange Chickens

i've noticed that mine smell more since i've given them garlic powder one of my friends was giving Scarlet a cuddle and said she smelt like chicken kiev i'm going to stop putting it in their food and see if there's an improvement.

I thought it was just me!!

 

I perservered with garlic powder for ages, but it just makes everywhere stink of garlic! I've given up using it now, just kept on with bokashi bran in their food and citronella oil in the tray.

It usually deodorises the poo, perhaps you were using a bit too much

I never smell anything garlicky . I reckon you could cut back on the amount .

I only used a sprinkle of it maybe not enough

It's hard to know how much to use . I just chuck a few large scoopfuls into the big pellets box I use.
