house-elf
I know that chickens should have some corn late afternoon, but can they have other stuff ie veg etc, or is that to be given instead of corn ??? I just don't want to overfeed them so advice would be appreciated please
Chickvic
They will eat lots of different treats, but I wouldn't give corn as well. Mine are quite fussy, they will eat veg - peas, broccoli, carrots etc but only if they're cooked (If you give ANY potato waste - eg peelings or left over mash etc - it ALWAYS has to be cooked because it's poisonous otherwise!) Mine have grapes, strawberries, raisins, corn on the cob but it is instead of corn although they have that on occasions too. Some chickens like tomatoes, cucumber, letuce etc. Just try them with different things, they'll eat it or they won't!
quickcluck
Hi there, You can try them on most things but you may find they spit it out first time!! Their little taste buds change alot once they are laying along with their hughly increased appetites!!! So keep trying different things at different times
emmamakeup
I tend to give mine treats in the afternoon as I want them to fill up on their main diet beforehand. When they are free ranging which is quite a lot of the time given the nice weather, they eat lots from the garden ie the grass, bugs etc so I consider those to be treats too. They love courgettes, grapes, lettuce, strawberries - you name it they eat it and think nothing of pinching a biscuit out of my hand
