Chucky Mama
Monica one of our Bluebelles has been broody for about a month now. She is such a piggy that she is not even particularly good at it as she has to come rushing out whenever there is a sniff of something tasty However, she has been getting worse over the last couple of days and so today after the others have all laid, I have had to put the grub on the outside of the run and have shut her out. She is quite upset that she can't get in and has even flown up on the top of the run to see if she can get in this way. Is it a bit much shutting her out or do you think that this is a reasonable thing to do. As they have a large garden that they free range in they only go in to eat during the day. Ain't Nobody Here
No, that's perfectly reasonable . She's better off than those girls that get shut into tiny puppy crates so she's got nothing to complain about . Just watch she doesn't find a comfy corner somewhere and create a nest for herself . poachedegg
We found just shutting our broody out didn't make any difference and as soon as the cube was opened she was straight back in. What worked for us was one of those nasty dog crates ANH mentioned - in the run on a couple of bricks (so cold air circulates) with food and water for 3 days and nights......and it worked!
