Best way to get rid of a noisy chicken

Recommended Posts

We have got one chicken who has been getting noisier over the last couple of months and in the last few weeks its getting to the point where I'm seriously considering getting rid of her.

Its not just mornings - its all day and doesnt stop even when we let her out to free range, the neighbours have been good so far but its getting past the point of no return.

Apart from rehoming her (is there anyone near Wolverhampton who wants a 2 year old ex-batt?) the only option I've got left is to kill her.

So the question is - are there any devices on the market that can despatch a chicken humanely or am I going to have to go down the route of doing it myself?

I'd try to re-home her first. Omleteers are usually quite good at finding solutions - hens are moved all over the country sometime in a chicken train.

I'm in Oxfordshire and have bantams so I can't help - but I could help in a chicken train if necessary.

Will give it a go. Living in Wolverhampton though there aren't that many options.

Its a shame to let her go but my wife is getting really stressed out with the noise that she is making. I'm at work all day so I don't notice it :)

Be patient; I bet you, before too much longer she will have been offered a home and a chicken train will be in the making. :D

If you don't get an offer from nearer to home, I would be willing to take her if a chicken train can be worked out to get up to bradford, or nearby. :)

Cant have the poor dear being de-headed just for being a loud mouth now can we

We rehomed a hen (not for being noisy but for being a bully!) We are in the West midlands and sent her to a lovely animal rescue centre called Heronfield near Knowle, Solihull, so not too far from you really. Its a great place! They have a website, so google it, they rarely refuse to take anything and have alot of hens that free range all day. We go and visit ours! She is very happy there and can make as much noise as she likes! :D

Good luck!
