Fridge/freezer recommendations?

Recommended Posts

My 9 yr old Bosch fridge/freezer is on its last legs :( . The insulation between the freezer and the fridge has gone (and is unfixable) and the compressor has gone too  . Not worth fixing apparently.

Anyone bought one recently? Any recommendations? I can wait a few days so can buy off the internet if I can find a bargain. Any good websites would be useful too :) .

I bought a separate fridge and freezer last year when I had my kitchen extended. I bought a lovely under counter Beko larder fridge from Argos (you get more shelves from Argos  ) and a Whirlpool under counter freezer. I think the fridge was around £130 and the freezer was around £160, I got free delivery on the freezer as it was from Currys and there was a discount code on moneysavingexpert. To be honest, the freezer has four drawers and I should have had the one with 3. However, both together run at half the electric of my 14 year old fridge/freezer, and they are both great. I looked at the own brand Currys and Comet fridges andfreezers instore, both brands were shoddy on the inside, especially the freezers, so do go round and look at some.

I was so pleased with the Beko, I bought their cooker as well, twin oven ceramic hob less than £350

I love looking at fridges and freezers, don't know why :lol:

I got my last one from a graded appliances website - brill delivery and nearly £200 off the RRP. Never did find the supposed dent. :) It's a zanussi and has been fine, but I have nothing special to say about them. Our Whirlpool lasted for ten years and then we gave it to our neighbours who still have it two years down the line.

I have a Samsung American style fridge freezer. I've had it fixed twice in three years as it stopped cooling and the fan was making a horrible noise. *touch wood* its all okay now - the last repair man made an adjustment to the hole where the water drips through as it was too small and newer models have a larger hole. My sister has one too, but hers is fine, so I guess it depends if it was a Friday afternoon shift that made it :lol:

I recently used co op on line to buy a miele dishwasher(brill pricing v pleased best delivery)

worth a look for what you are looking for

But the last freezer I bought was 10 years ago a larder one(Ilooked at Bosch) and got a cheapy one from Iceland and touch wood still going strong. It had more cubic feet space than the largest Bosch upright. I have a seperate larder fridge and seperate full uprigh freezer. its a kyoto or some unknown make!

Good luck I have had expensive brands and these were both dirt cheap and no probs

indie :)
