sarahpink
I have a 6 month old Silkie who has just made it pretty clear he is a boy! This is my second cockerel out of 3 chicks, a friend has had one but I was struggling to find a home for this one so I found a 'chicken sanctury' on the internet. I called the guy today who asked what sort of chicken he is and said he would take him if I could drop him off. When I asked what would happen with him he said he has around 30 cockerels in his back and front yard and that he will try to rehome him. The guy didn't sound much of a chicken lover and Im a bit concerned that my beautiful boy is going to get eaten alive! He has been bought up with my 2 yr old son and is extmemly tame and affectionate so I worry he's going to be out of his depth! Any advice would be great thanks, not sure if Im over reacting, Does anybody know anything about these places that re home chickens? Would eating him be kinder than sending him away to the unknown? Egluntyne
We can't assist with rehoming requests, sorry...but have a look at our **Rehoming Policy** as there are many helpful suggestions contained in it.

sarahpink
We live in a residential area so not allowed to keep cockerels, heard one of our neighbours shout 'shut up!' over the fence yesterday. Things have got worse now though as my OH is sure that our last 'girl' crowed this morning! So looks like I got 2 on my hands now! Tried to find out about beegal but have to register to get onto practical poultry forum and I cant do that with my hotmail account. What a disaster!
