we need 20m of chicken wire to run along the bottom of our fencing just to keep foxes out/ keep chicken in when they are free ranging. just wondering where the cheapest place to get it from is, I know wilkinsons do 10m for £7 which I thought was quite good considering there's no postage. We live in Birmingham, so anywhere local would be great. oh yeah and as cheap as possible please, we are trying to keep the initial cost down!!!

Sorry, don't know where to get it - just be aware that while it will keep chickens in, it won't necessarily keep foxes out. They can bite through it. If it's just to plug a gap while they're free-ranging then it's probably ok, but not if it's intended as a protective measure.

B&Q....As Olly has pointed out, chicken wire is no defence against a fox. Weld mesh is much better.

Just echoing what others have said - chicken wire is no defence against a fox, they can easily bite through this so don't use this if you are hoping it will be a protective measure.

I got loads off Freecycle, and use it to keep the hens off the bits of the garden that I want to remain undamaged. As the others have said, it is as useless as a chocolate teapot for keeping foxes out though.

I got mine off eBay. It's perfect for making an area in which the chickens can free range. It also comes in handy protecting the veggies from the pesky pigeons.

 

Will not stop a fox for more than a few seconds though.
