We have a bit of rain lately and it has been a rather breezy.

Our back garden was flooded right up to the patio doors, the chickens have been paddling in their run.

 

The local railway underpass was flooded beyond the depth of a transit van that got stuck in the middle. And there has been traffic chaos with localised flooding all over town.

 

We went down the plot yesterday to check on the damage. Half the plot is under a foot of water despite raised beds and path trenching etc. And the sweetcorn has taken a severe beating. I daren't go back to look again today as it was windy again last night. Hopefully I will be able to salvage it and stake them back up or something.

 

I will be gutted if the sweetcorn bites the dust Just when you think you are doing well...............

Hope it's stood up ok, I'm always surprised by how well things bounce back, given a day or two of sunshine.

Sorry to hear that Kev. It is soul destroying after all the work you have put in. Hopefully it will be ok when the water drains away.

thats a real shame but hopefully some dry weather will bring some surprises

On the bright side - you won't have to cart a watering can around because I don't think they'll put a hosepipe ban on! It'll subside very quickly - just put stakes around the taller plants or tie them in. They'll be fine.
