Cate in NZ
Hey Egluntine, we have the same iron I can't say that I enjoy ironing, but I'm a bit of a fanatic for crisply ironed things, especially bedsheets (so delicious when you slip between the freshly ironed, crisp sheets of a newly made bed ) and shirts. So several times a weeek I charge up the iron, switch on a mindless film or TV programme, and dedicate huge chunks of my life to ironing I do think that the job is quicker and marginally less painful with the steam generator style iron , but maybe I'm fooling myself
theherd123
Whats an iron??? Do you not have a washing & ironing fairy??
feemcg
I too have a Tefal Pro Express (£99 reduced in Curry's) I actually like ironing but after going through at least one iron a year I took the plunge and paid a bit more than usual, and it was well worth it - I love it! chocchick
glad im not the only one.. i confess i dont iron either (why bother!) i have a tumble dryer....once dried i fold the clothes immediately and then straight back into the wardrobe/airing cupboard. the only time i will iron is if for an "occasion" where we have to wear smart shirts etc....everything else we own are t-shirts/jumpers/fleeces and dont need ironing Ditto except we don't own a tumble drier or airing cupboard and the clothes just hang "drying" until I run out of clothes
Cinnamon
I don't iron either I recently had to buy one (never owned one before) for the daughters Sea Cadets uniform which has to have "a sharp ironed crease for & aft on the trouser leg" I just got a Tesco cheapy one,& have used it now a total of twice in 8 weeks
kannie
Its this one:http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000GJI9UI/pricegracom-21/ref=nosim That looks good eglutine + Kate A: they didn't have it in Dyas when I looked: just the cheap retro styled one. Actually the Argos ironing expert woman had a tefal steam generating one herself - unfortunately it was no longer in their catalogue. Sounds like tefals the way to go if you want a steam generator. The boxy bit is huge on most of them though: does it fit on your ironing board or do you put it somewhere else?
Aunty e
You can buy an ironing board which will let you put a giant steam generating iron baase on it, or you can just pop it on a nearby surface as the steam cords tend to be quite big..... Egluntyne
I just have mine on the floor next to the ironing board. The cord is plenty long enough.
Happy-Mama
Glad I saw this thread, my iron just blew and I'm off to Tesco's after work to get a new one. Not sure if they will have a steam generating one though and they sound great.
