Porkypie
Are they sleeping in their nest box at night? That definately leads to poo in the nest box

jlo
One of mine roosts on the nesting box with her bum hanging over! I have an old spoon and the poo bucket at the side of the Eglu for some judicious poo picking every morning!
Cooks
my bluebelle roosts on the entrance to the nestbox facing in the enstbox, she's a loon! but the others sleep in the nestbox... hence poop. But I just clean it out, no biggy

Sarahw12
Yup, one of mine does that too. She seems to prefer the feel of the lip of the nest box to the roosting bars. Bugs the heck out of me!
poachedegg
Two of our ex batts sleep in the nesting box - so every morning I use my handy Pink scoop to clean up.
bexbex
mine are guily... I have only got one to roost on the bars so far in our wooden coop.. she also happens to be the only one who is laying so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. The other 2 like to sleep (and poop) in the nesting box.. lol Becki x
gazzagerkin
Are they sleeping in their nest box at night? That definately leads to poo in the nest box sleeping in the nestbox did have cardboard to stop them sleeping in there, but as one is now laying removed cardboard, hopefully pooing will stop when the other 2 start laying
Cooks
I like them having their little sleeping wing (nestbox) if they want to sleep there I dont stop them
Ruskie
One of our two quicky took to sleeping in the nestbox. To start with we put an old football in there each evening to discourage her and then relented. For a couple of nights she stayed out and then crept back in. Now, each night just after they've taken themselves to bed, my husband goes out and shuts the Eglu door. He also opens the side door and sure enough, each night Ginger is on the nest. However, she clearly knows she's being 'naughty' as she immediately gets up with a little wiggle of her fluffy bum - as if to say 'I was just about to move anyway' and takes herself off to a corner. She doesn't return there as there are no droppings now. It's just become a little ritual every night!
-sarahjayne
I have 4 little madams and they all like to sleep in the 1 (!!) nesting box. We built another nestingbox to go on the other side of the house but they refuse to sleep in there - thats the ''laying box'' They have a very large nice perch in their run but refuse to use it.. Oh well as long as they are comfortable
Porkypie
I have one madam who sometimes snuggles up in 'her' nestbox but I'm mean and go out after dark to check and move her
cluckbok
Yeah poopy nestbox = poopy but we just clean the nestbox out and brush off the eggs if necessary. Unless you want to be putting in a football each evening They just love the nestbox!
