Space Chick
They should put themselves to bed once it starts getting dark You just need to make sure they are tucked up and locked up

Space Chick
In that case, if time starts getting on and they don't go in, then shine a torch through the egg port, they will be drawn to the light and will go in. Then tomorrow night they will know the drill Let us know how it goes

Egluntyne
I put them in the run at 6pm in the summer months.. They line up waiting for their sweetcorn at about 10 minutes to. You can set your watch by them! I always like to have them locked away well before twilight so that: a) I don't forget and b) they are safe before the fox gets peckish. JoanneFrizzle
Hi I'm new to all this. I've had my frizzle hens for two days now and they are 13 weeks old. They took themselves to bed last night about 7.30, but then woke up and came back out. In the end my daughter shut the eglu door at about 8.30. My question is, could we just leave the door open in the summer time so they can also get up in the mornings when they want? Also would it be safe to leave the food in the grub overnight. Joanne PS just an unrelated question, I know they eat dry sweetcorn, but do they like fresh raw corn or does it have to be cooked - sorry probably a very silly newbie question thanks for any help
Margaret
+ WIR Lavender Mabel Marjorie After day 1 they put themselves to bed, at the moment its around 9 pm, a few weeks ago when we had the odd day of sunshine I had to stay up until they went to bed about 10.15 worst than when the kids were small. On a Saturday night I let them stay up all night ( well I think they go to bed at sometime) as I like to have a lay in until 7ish, in the week I open the eglu at 5.30 when I get up to go to work Also on the sweetcorn question mine like the dry stuff, but give them the one in the tin, preferably M&S and they would take your hand off to get to it. K-F-C
We went away last weekend and left the cube door open... they were fine. I think quite a few people leave the doors open when the weather is fine. I also leave the grub in overnight... there was a slug in it one morning but they ate it! Mine love a fresh corn on the cob! They had it all round their beaks!
