has anyone had a Columbine from Storrs Poultry of Sheffield ? nearest supplier to Hull i can find, what colour egg and any pics would be appreciated.

I got my columbine from Storrs 3 weeks ago....very flighty at first but is now eating out of my hand and reasonably friendly. I cant help with the eggs though as she hasnt laid any as yet - she is around 24 weeks old at present. I was told that she has an 80% chance of laying a blue OR green egg.

Storrs Poultry is very reliable.

 

The only drawback is that it is up a single track very rough road over a mile long.....so don't go in the Jag.

I purchased a Bluebelle last week from Raw Green Cottages its in Barnsley - dont know if that would be OK for you...I have just looked on her website and she also has Cream Legbars listed...The Bluebelle we got is a fantastic bird, quite easily the friendliest of the 4!

yhis is thi best photo I've can find of cyclone my columbine she's about 30+ weeks old lays a parchment coloured egg she's deffenetly the brains of the outfit first one to learn the rattle of the treats pot,also were the treats or kept will come running as sone as the key's in the lock even if she's out of sight well worth having even if she doen't lay a blue egg

the egg on the right is her first one the colur has stayed constent from day one the shells as hard as nails

i think white but hopfully some one with a blue or green layer wil put use right there some pictures on here of a blue layer thats what got me thinking before mine layed that i'd got one of the 20% that don't lay blue/green eggs

I have read this before, but my Cream Legbar lays sky blue eggs and there is no hint of blue in her ears - they are white .

does it only apply to Columbines ? i thought all Cream Legbars laid blue eggs

I think for most chooks its the lighter the ear lobe the lighter the colour of eggs. That is not 100% but most of the time with Columbines or skylines as they are somtimes know have a very slight tinge of colour somtimes however that is no absolute as somone here has one with i think green ear lobes that lays cream eggs

I just read that thread again, it was a photo of my Freya and she laid cream eggs despite her greenish ears
