Virotec P, Virkon S or Stalosan F

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been making some phone calls to try and get some Stalosan F for my stinky run. I have just spoken to someone localish who is going to phone around to see if she can get some in but she did say she has Virotec P (think thats how you spell it) and Virkon S (she says this is more popular). Is this the same as Stalosan F and would it work to get rid of the stinky run.

Thanks again everyone.

I have used Virkon S before but it is a powder that is mixed with water so it my understanding is that it is to be used a bit like poultry shield ie. on your housing/feeding equipment etc

.

It is superstrong stuff...we used it all other the place during the foot and mouth drama.

If you add Virkon S to your stinky run you will be adding more liquid to the run which i assume partly is what is causing the smell?

Stalosan F is powder and is applied in that form too. Biodry is another product which is similar to Stalosan.

Stalosan F is readily available (next day delivery) from Flytesofancy online - I order some this week, the postage was £6.75 for 8kg (they also do 20kg sack), I bought lots of other things at the same time, so £6.75 was the total postage for lots of products. I thought bio-dry was about the same (they also sell that), but it doesn't list as many things that it kills on Bio-Dry.

They are my no. 1 online supplier for all sorts of poultry things - feeders, drinkers, egg boxes, box lables plus many healthcare products.

Thanks everyone - Quick Update

I have managed to get some Stalosan F quite locally approx. 10 miles from home. I paid £17.25 for 8kg tub. The lady was really helpful and phoned around to try to get me some and within a couple of days she called to say it was in. I don't know if its wishful thinking but I have sprinkled some over the rubber chippings this afternoon and just popped my head out and I'm sure the smells disappearing :D

I will see how we go with the rubber chippings now and if smell still lingers will change back to woodchip.

Once again thanks all.
