Space Chick
Our Broad Bean bed has now finished, and we are eager to usefully use the spot to grow something else. The question is what. OH doesn't want to do Onions and is also reluctant about Spinach as the girls frequently break in to this plot. Any ideas?
Falkor
I asked the very same question recently Debs: Here is Koojie's reply "You can sow chard now, still time for last lot of peas and french beans. Carrots, all sorts of lettucey things. Spinach grows quickly. You can do mini turnips or mini beetroots - they will take about 6 weeks, some mini beets can be left to grow into big beets - but check the package first otherwise they could get woody. Or normal beets. You can do green manure in the soil that you aren't ready for - phacelia is good for bees too when it flowers. You can have a bash at winter onions from seed (not sure when they start off) or later towards autumn you can pop in winter onion sets. Still lots of time for lots of things. Cabbages, swedes too"

Valkyrie
Ooh my ears were burning. Happy sowing folks. By the way, my broad beans finished ages ago so I replanted with my dad's French beans. They haven't really performed so it was probably the wrong thing to plant there, but they are greening up again and flowering.

Valkyrie
I agree, it would be nice to have the same difference in colours of my French beans when served up rather than all green.
