4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

I think he's either having an identity crisis or he's working up to something evil

 

As soon as the Eglu has been cleaned and fresh straw replenished he climbs into the nest box and goes to sleep.

 

He regularly sits on top of the Elgu when assembled and watches the chooks

 

When the run is open he sits inside it, drinks their water and last night we were eating dinner outside with the chooks running about and he pops his head out of their door and mews at us.

 

He's 10 years old

 

Does anybody else have this with their cats and chickens? Whilst his behaviour is funny I'm worried in case he's harbouring sinister tendencies....

Nope i don't have a cat that does that but i have a Terrier that does

 

When i shut the eglu door so i can clean the girls out my Bedlington Terrier gets in their coop

my cat regulaly sleeps on top of my walk in run as it has a temporary tarpaulin cover which he uses like a hammock. he will also happily share the patio when the sun is shinning. my staffie lies with his head in the doorway of the coop as thats the only bit of him that fits!!!

Nooooooooooo they sit on the fence or wheelie bin and watch my chooks from a safe distance My eight cats are far too scared of the hens to get within 20 feet of them let alone run the risk of being trapped in the cube

my cat is the same! he often sleeps on top of the run and in the nestbox - last week he was actually sleeping on the eggs!

That sounds so sweet, I don't think its got a cunning plan. Just sounds like he's a bit mixed up and perhaps thinks he's a chicken

One of my cats is terrified of the chooks and the other is fascinated by them. The second one, who loves them, has even taken to dustbathing in the same holes that the chooks have made .

Oh dear , my cats still dig up all my seedings and best plants for that .
