Space Chick
Murphys law - if anything can go wrong it will go wrong Very long post, sorry, but has a happy ending Well this sums up my day with the girls today. Firstly, it was jet clean the cube day today. Emptied the poo trays first and the dog crept up on me, made me jump resulting in me dropping a load of poo on my feet Let the girls out to freerange whilst we were both in the garden cleaning. Then, OH was a bit too enthusiastic with the jet cleaner and I got soaked. The Wernlas girls were all petrified of the jet cleaner sound, resulting in Leela escaping to next doors garden (don't ask me how) Stopped cleaning, realised that Leela was missing, started to panic. OH saw Leela in next doors garden with their Jack Russell Rodney watching her intently. OH rushes to get Henrys lead to hold Rodney back, notices that Thomas the cat had brought us a dead mouse. Sarah-Jane also noticed the dead mouse, grabbed it and her and Donna "shared it" Went next door to rescue Leela, OH tied Rodney up with Henrys lead, Leela not prepared to play ball as was enjoying their grass too much Bribed Leela with corn, and managed to pick her up (thank goodness she's started crouching) Returned to our garden, got some dog biscuits for Rodney for being good and not attempting to eat Leela. Went to retrieve eggs from Ex Batts section (Romana, Grace and Peri were in their section of the run. Didn't close Ex Batts section properly, so they got in with the R, G & P. Thankfully it was nice natured no nastiness. Sorted out ex batts run, poo picked etc, went to get them fresh water water, tripped over Rose and got my second soaking. Finished ex batts sections and couldn't get them back in their run section By this point, all the cube parts were dry so I thought I would re-assemble the cube, cut and bled my finger. Sprinkled cube with Red Mite powder, some went up my nose and made me sneeze. Went into the house, to get some hemcore and diatom for the nesting box and poo tray and noticed that my shoes had poo on them. Took them off by the door, stepped in, and stepped on the plug of the power washer - Ouch Then I knocked over a tub of dried meal worms which went everywhere. At this point I started to cry and started to wonder why on earth I decided to have chickens. Finished up everything, pushed the cube back against the run, and decided to sit in the run with my girls for an hour, doing nothing. This was when I had my epiphany, spending time with my beautiful girls, watching them, having a cuddle with them and chatting away made me forget it all. Some days things may not go according to plan, but boy am I glad they are in my life
