the_martian
Hello - as a complete beginner I want to check on breed of chicken before I buy some. I'm too far from omlet (in South Wales) so couldnt buy any at the same time as the eglu. The nearest breeder has Bovan Goldlines and nothing else at the moment. These aren't on the breed list on the omlet site - does anybody know anything about them? Are they a good first-time hen? The only thing I've found out about them so far is that they are a Rhode Island Red and Light Sussex cross. thanks in advance Martin
Clur
I have two Bovan Goldlines and they are lovely girls. One is very affectionate and loves cuddles and the odd bath, and the other is quite feisty and independant. They've been good layers (though one isn't at the moment as she's not been well), and my two are creeping up to 2 1/2 years old. Love them! Snowy
They are the same hybrid as the Omlet Gingernut Ranger. Very friendly and good layers. Ideal first hens!
Space Chick
Lots of breeders call similar breeds different things. I am also in South Wales (Neath), so give me a shout and PM me if you need anything
