chick wiggle
I am trying to find a cheap supplier of egg boxes, just pulp, unprinted, for 6 eggs. The cheapest I've found so far is on ebay, 300 for 14.95 but then £8 postage! Does anybody buy their egg boxes from anywhere cheaper? HENthusiastic
I got some ages ago from ebay. I'm now finding that I'm being given more egg boxes back from people than I'm actually using! The supply I brought is squrilled away not being used! Re-using egg boxes is good environmentally too. (Yes, Iknow its not technically allowed, but hey, who's telling??) Why is it not technically allowed? Like you, I re-use the boxes people bring to me. They expect me to re-use them! Saronne x
Space Chick
I asked family and friends to save me egg boxes, I've got a cupboard full now
HENthusiastic
Howdy. I'm not entirely sure, but its to do with legalities around selling eggs via the 'garden gate' legislation. I think other people are allowed to bring their own used boxes and collect eggs from you and put them into their own box, but if you sell in a used box its against some legislation or other. I'm sure somebody who knows better than me will be on soon. I'm just repeating stuff I remember reading on here.
chick wiggle
I have asked freinds and family to save egg boxes but everyone seems to buy 10, 12 or 18 size boxes and they're too big! I also like to take them to work or where ever to give to people but always run out of boxes Any specific place on ebay egluntine?
HENthusiastic
Would it work cutting the 12 boxes in half??
TAJ
www.flytesofancy.co.uk I have always found best - they come very quick and are a good price - I think the rainbow pack (blue, yellow, green & pink) worked out at 8p each, I think grey is cheaper. I think all those 4-egg blue boxes on e-bay come from them, just broken down into less of them with a mark-up on price. Tracy
Chook n Boo Mum
I use recycled egg boxes too, though people who save them for me tend to buy the eggs too so technically they are bringing a box to be filled............just usually it's 4-6 empty boxes to one box of eggs I buy the 4 egg ones from www.flytesofancy.co.uk too, Sha x
alet_chicken
We bought some yellow and pink 6-egg boxes on ebay some time ago, for selling eggs in at work. I find that people bring the boxes back very religiously, and I do re-use the clean ones, because it's environmentally friendly. I never ask people to bring back boxes, but I did mention the price of the boxes in the staff room once, and word must have got round. Actually the problem I have is that I sometimes get boxes back that are not clean, in which case they quietly go into the compost bin. By the way, I also think the boxes on ebay come from flytesofancy, and are repackaged and marked up. I think at the time it cost us 30p a box (yes, really!!), which compares well with Pets at Home, but is really quite expensive in the long run. I will get my next boxes from flytesofancy.
