Guest
He set off from London in July and has been running 6 marathons each week. Today is his 40th marathon! I think he has had 6 days off in all that time! I totally agree with you Chickencam - I am a fan of his now purely because he is doing this. He is 47 years old, not an athlete, and has given up 2 months of his working life to raise money for Sport Relief. He deserves huge accolades from all of us, in my opinion. Donating just a small amount will help. You can donate here: http://www.comicrelief.com/donate/eddie A bit of the Omlet effect would be brilliant! I probably sound really pushy. I'm not a pushy person at all, but I am really bowled over by what this man is doing. Everyone thought he was crazy and would never manage it, but he has proved us all wrong. Lots of Omlet people live in the Leicester area - how many of you would even contemplate running to Northampton? Every day, 6 days a week? I don't want him to be upset next week that he hasn't raised very much money at all. That would just be too awful. So please support him - give him a wave or buy an ice cream from his van. For all Londoners: I have just heard that Eddie should be arriving in Trafalgar Square after 4pm on Tuesday 15th September. There should be a good crowd to welcome him. Ain't Nobody Here
I do like Eddie Izzard . I watched a Youtube clip about him doing one of his marathons in Ireland. Respect . My OH runs marathons in very respectable times but I doubt he could do what Eddie is doing .
Guest
On his day off whilst in Edinburgh, he ran to the top of Arthur's Seat! Not much of a day off!
Ain't Nobody Here
You're telling me . That's the route of the Cancer Research 5k run - it's knackering. I know .
Guest
I saw your report in the paper when you did it. I'm afraid I gave up, but my family made it to the top.

bluekarin
I have HUGE respect for him doing all these marathons for Sport Relief. I was listening to him on Chris Moyles the other morning. I have to say I did a double take I was sure I hadn't had anything to drink all week but just couldn't remember starting a topic this week about Eddie Izzard. And then I saw the date of the first post. lol
Guest
Sorry BlueKarin. I wasn't sure if anyone else had mentioned the marathons, so searched on Izzard and found your thread. I'm always very conscious of not starting new threads when there's already one going and I think as a consequence of that I frequently continue a thread when it should have been a new one. I think this would have been better if I'd started afresh, so maybe a moderator could split it and retitle it "Eddie iz Running 43 marathons in 7 weeks"? Just made me wake up a bit. I'm the same as you on the thread thing. I always check there isn't one already running just in case.

Guest
Thank you so much ANH. That's beautifully done. Mostin, I'm afraid he went through Leeds last week. He arrived in Northampton last night but I can't find any information about today's route. Maybe he's not running today? I'm following him on Twitter, but he hasn't said where he is. I agree that it is a shame more people didn't realise he was doing this. Waving him past makes us feel a small part of his incredible journey. I desperately want to meet him in london on Tuesday (Trafalgar Square 4pm) but I have commitments with my daughters and won't be able to. I'm hoping DH will go though. There will be a television programme about the run shown in March, which should raise even more money. In the meantime, there are some videos on YouTube, which a re worth watching. This is a link to the first and I think there are 5 of them.

Guest
I think a lot of people will feel like you do Sparkysmum. At least he didn't run through Dunblane, so you didn't miss him! Eddie has now announced that he is going for a personal record for his final marathon tomorrow. The man is astounding! Going for a speed record on his 43rd marathon in 7 weeks! Please go and meet him in Trafalgar Square if you possibly can! He's expected at about 4pm. Sponsor him here http://www.comicrelief.com/donate/eddie and read about his journey on http://www.eddieizzard.com. There are also some very interesting videos of his journey on YouTube. Old Speckled Hen
He was on Border News last week running through Carlisle. The weather was typically rainy and cold and he was eating one of his many ice creams when he was being interviewed. He was shivering with cold but quipping all the way.
