Sammy
Whilst still September, fireworks all already being set off in my surrounding area. We also back on to a golf course and over the last few weeks they have been having regular displays on a Saturday evening I assume to coincide with a wedding reception or party. This is only going to worsen as we get closer to Guy Fawkes Night. How do you all handle your chickens on Bonfire Night? Do you bring them indoors for a few hours whilst fireworks are going off? Does anyone give Rescue Remedy or similar? This will be my first one with my girls so not sure what to do but want to ensure they don't get stressed. Ain't Nobody Here
This topic pops up every year at this time . General feedback seems to be that the owners get stressed but the chickens don't even notice .
lozboz
I have been wondering what to do with my hens closer to bonfire night also. Fireworks wont be going off that close too me as they do to you but will be close enough to be heard loudish. I did not know whether brining them into the house may stress them more than just leaving them in the comfort of their own home. I might try and find something to cover the coop with to sorten the sound of the bangs, maybe something like these garden fleeces that are like wadding???? poppy33
I stressed like mad last year and kept going out to check on the girls, everytime I went to the WIR they all came out to see why I kept coming down to visit them, they then pecked around quite happily in the run whilst the fireworks exploded above, not the slightest bit concerned, so dont worry too much as I am sure they will be fine

Mutrix Farmers
Shortly after we got our girls a neighbour had fireworks (in May!!!!). OH rushed up the garden to check the girls. He opened the Eglu to find them all fast asleep. Over the last year I've decided mine are easily spooked by the sight of something rather than the noise. Sammy
Looks like I'm being too maternal again...... I will do absolutely nothing (except the occasional peak...just to make sure they are OK).
