Redwing
I'm not a massive fan of them, they are ok for a few chickens though I would use the gravity type feeders (red or green saucer with a white 'cone' on top
Cooks
Well The Glug and Grub are two seperate items so when you say will you ahve to keep refilling 'it' I am unsure whether you realised this. One for water one for food obviously, I think seven hens would need more than one of these if you decided to use them otherwise you will be forever filling them up and they will not all be able to get to the food at the same time, which they'll probbaly try to do. There is also a superglug which holds a lot more water. Hope this helps.
katieD
ive got 7 hens and my run has 2 grubs and a normal glug and supa glug- would definately recomend the bigger glug- water stays clean and my girld love drinking out of the little teats. i fill my glug up every day- to keep fresh rather than they drink it all (probably would last them 3 days if i left it. 2 grubs i fill up every couple of days- hope that helps! i love mine! best to use ikea utencil rails to hand them on- just posted some pics of mine of the run/cubes section
Janty
I use two of the surerglugs as top drinkers with a log in front so that the hens can dip their heads into the top. I use some of the smaller glugs as feeders. I use the grubs, glugs and superglugs as well as the hanging feeders. My lot have feeders everywhere so that they never fall out over food and water. Lewis
I have a few of the big red feeders and drinkers ... they aren't used I like the little mushroom ones, but I always seem to get soaked by the big red ones I like the grub + glug and haven't used the superglug yet will do in a few weeks
Falkor
I have six LF hens and spent a lot of time refilling the grubs and emptying the glug and replacing the water so I have changed to a 5kg "traditional" feeder and a large water feeder. Both are hung from the rafters of my WIR so that the hens can peck and drink but it is difficult for them to flick all their bedding into them. I do have grubs and glugs but rarely use them.....mainly cos I hate washing them up and OH won`t let me put them in the dishwasher. If the chickens you will have are the chicks that you have hatched which I believe are silkies then you will need to consider the hairdo`s. Occasioanlly my silkie will use a glug to drink from (escaped into the other run ) and she gets her hair wet.....looks like a drowned rat and can`t be good for her to be damp and cold...........especially in this weather. Hope that helps.
