Lewis
The easiest way is to upload the photo to imageshack and then you can just copy the link and insert it into [*img] imageshack link goes here [*/img] (with the *'s removed)
Redwing
They are lovely but notoriously hard to breed, hatch and sex and therefore get hold of! very few breeders breed them They are super looking birds though Janty has a Shetland cross
speckled hen
Yes she is a really lovely girl, the breeder had quite a few of them and has actually sent some back up to the shetlands! Hopefully this will link to a pic of her Please work
Janty
I have a Shetland crossbreed called Paisley that lays lovely green eggs. They are reeeaaaaalllllyyy hard to sex. Three that I have had from the breeder have had to go back due to them being cockerels. I gave up in the end and swapped my last one for a LF Australorp. chickenNutter
Well I have had a shetland pony in the past, and that was the most awkward little beggar that I have come across. I hope that the chicken version is a lot more biddable! Good luck
Janty
Your Shetland looks a lot like this little one that turned out to be a cockerel. I can see why the breeder made a mistake.
speckled hen
Thanks very much ANH, not sure what I did wrong She does look cute if I do say so myself! Janty - I am pleased she turned out to be a girl, we got our orpington from the same breeder and she is a he - Colin. We are owed a girl in his place, even though we are keeping him so I think we will get a girl orp and another shetland, fingers crossed we get a girl then. As a breed, she is quite strong willed and will run off if she see's you trying to pick her up, once you have her though she is quite cuddly. She lays 6 eggs a week at the minute, we had quite a few double yolkers at first but that has settled down now. Her eggs are a lovely blue colour, my regular egg customers que up for a blue egg!!! My OH loves her and has claimed her as his girl
Janty
Mine won't go to bed. She roosts up in the rafters of the WIR with her best friend, Ronnie Moran, the Maran.
