Given that I've booked my Ocado delivery what size turkey crown will I need There's 11 of us which includes 3 pensioners, one of whom eats like a sparrow and a nephew aged 11 who is the same and will have to have ketchup on it We do not want to be eating turkey for days and I am not entertaining again on Boxing Day. Ta as ever

I worked at a turkey farm last year but can't really remember exactly, maybe about 18 or 20 lbs?

I know what you mean, we always used to get a crown but then last year there were 9 of us and we got a 15lbs turkey and there was quite a bit left over but we have it on boxing day too.

 

A crown might would probably be easier aswell, maybe look at the shop when you buy/order it

I think I remember reading that it's about a pound per person? - and that is enough for some cold to use in sandwiches.......

 

just Googled....it's a pound per person or one and a half pounds each if you want leftovers.

Given the choice I would go for a Turkey Crown every time as theres no waste, however my big bro always buys the christmas turkey from Kellys so I get what I'm given. I'm not complaining though as it costs a small fortune!

One of the problems with the christmas turkey is that people tend to really over estimate how much they need. When you take into account all the trimmings like chipolatas and stuffing which have a meat content this reduces the amout of meat eaten in the form of turkey. We usually have a whole turkey that weighs aroung 5-6 kg and this gives us loads for our family of 5 for several meals. I would have thought a crown that weighs around 5kg should be fine for a single meal for 11 people

I'd say 6kg. And tell them you forget to get ketchup- the very idea!!!!!!!!

I would definitely get a large crown, most people (especially, I suspect, pensioners) prefer the white meat.
