Chickvic
We are going to the New Forest next year and were looking at spending the day on the Isle of Wight. We have looked on the internet for prices and nothing is coming up I was wondering (as Omleteers know everything ) whether anyone had been and what the price was roughly. We aren't bothered whether we take the car or go on foot, and can someone recommend anywhere of interest to visit? Thanks!
Lewis
Click Fares from just £32 for a car + 6 We haven't been for years so can't comment on where to go
Janepie33
We went to the Isle of Wight for 2 weeks in the summer. We took the car over (a Landrover with a box on top) and it cost around £85 return. Various teenagers joined us during the fortnight and a single (student) foot passenger ticket was abot £7. As for visiting places, it depends what you fancy. Busy touristy attractions - go to the Needles or Blackgang Chine or Sandown Pier Animals - Falconry display - Appledurcombe House. Sandown Zoo - lots of Tigers The Garlic Farm Countless Beaches My Favourite - Shanklin Chine (quite steep though) Ventnor Botanical gardens (FREE!) 2 or 3 Vineyards It's a lovely place. Enjoy! Guest
The Isle of Wight is the most brilliant place to go. There is so much to see and do with very little travelling time wherever you go. I'll add Amazon World and the Flamingo Park. Shanklin is my favourite resort, but from the New Forest I think you'll come in on the other side of the island, right next to an old Henry VIII castle. There's a steam railway as well, if that's your thing!
Patricia W
I have to go for work from time to time and have had to stay over there sometimes. I always use Red Funnel. You might like to think about going as a foot passenger and using their bus service, although a lot would depend on the weather and how madly you want to rush about. Snowy
It's quite a few years since we went, but I can recommend the Shire Horse place (if it's still there!) A great day out! Just googled it - Brickfields Horse Country
