Ozzy in the woods

Recommended Posts

Ozzy is our youngest cat, a cream tabby male. He is a rescue cat, just over 2 years old. He came to us as a kitten with his littermate Cindy (a blue-cream tortie), who was sadly killed on the road in March :( He has been mourning her rather a lot, but recently has come out of his shell.

We have a problem with a mouse at a woods in the barn building. It is getting in and chewing things it really shouldn't be, so we'd like to get rid of it.

We decided to give Ozzy a go at finding the mouse, as he's pretty good as a mouser, but I wasn't sure of the wisdom of taking a cat somewhere unfamiliar. However he was packed into the cat carrier today and spend about 90 minutes at the wood. He recognised the tractor (which used to be in our garden) and found the mouse within minutes, although failed to catch it. He had a great time, then decided it was time to go home and got himself into his cat carrier all on his own (a bit like the chooks getting into the Cube!).

I know it's not normal to take a cat away from home, but he genuinely liked it, so I think he might be having more trips with us. It might also help him out of himself a bit after losing his twin sister. So I hope you don't mind me sharing his little adventure as it has really done him good!

He's gorgeous :D

Thank you! This is him as a kitten with his late sister Cindy - how could you visit the cat rescue and NOT bring this little fuzzy thing home?

We haven't taken him today as we are back and forward with the tractor sorting out the plumbing for our rainwater tanks, but he's actually asking us if he can go! Maybe tomorrow!

what a fine looking cat :)

we would go on camping trips with a friend and she would bring her cat

He was 13 years old at time and hated to be left at home when family went away

He would potter about the camp site most the day staying near our tents

we got funny comments when we 'd stop off at Mc d for Lunch on the trip to site

He would let us put a cat harness on him and would sit next to my dogs while we ate
