Do boys have head spots? I wouldn't say it's got a head spot, more of a yellowy white mohawk It's the biggest fattest chick I've ever seen so I'm guessing it's a boy. It's sibling is in no hurry to join it.

Its hard to tell from the pic. all my Marans boys had very obvious head spotsso were easy, in saying that I could have told anyway from literally a couple of days in as their combs started to grow really quickly

The remaining Marans hatched just before bedtime last night I don't think the last egg will hatch now but this has been my most successful hatch because all bar one of the fertile eggs hatched and none needed assistance. For the first time my chick brooder is in the kitchen and it's nice to have the babies at eye level and not on the floor

They have names now, Angelina, Percy, Edward & Brynn Brynn is the little Marans who arrived late Sunday night. He's very small and very cute. I've got loads of photos I'd better get around to uploading!
