I was going to splash out on a s"Ooops, word censored!"y new incubator but I thought that before I dump my antique one I'd try one last time to get the humidity levels right with it. I've been playing around with it these past few days and some eggs are now in the post on their way to me. This time I'll be hatching Cream Legbars, Light Sussex and Cuckoo Marans These will hopefully be our first Cream Legbars, having previously incubated six eggs that were all clear. The Light Sussex are from the same breeder as my Salmon Faverolles and the Marans are from a really lovely man on Ebay. I'd emailed him yesterday asking questions and he invited me to phone him so we had a lovely chat about the many birds he has that are not laying and that I could relate well too He then phoned me this morning before he went to the post office just to double check I only wanted six Marans eggs. How cool is that? There are so many bad sellers of eggs on Ebay and he has been a pleasant change. Watch me change my tune when they all candle clear

All the Light Sussex candled clear, 3/6 Legbars and I've left in 4 Marans I couldn't get a good enough look at. The joys of hatching late in the year

I've a light sussex boy if you'd like him, would one 15 week old make up for the clear eggs ....only joking (all the time he keeps his beak firmly shut ) he's my gorgeous boy & his brother is going to his new home tomorrow as they are starting to s"Ooops, word censored!" & I've no wish to witness a full blown cock fight

I'll pass on him thanks I've got a 20 week old Speckled Sussex cockerel that was going to be for Christmas dinner but I doubt very much he'll be crowing by then so he'll probably get to see in the New Year. I've got five other cockerels aged 25 weeks and they're not crowing either I reckon it's because of all the dominant females They daren't pipe up or put a foot out of line because they'll get an ear bashing from Mimi ex-batt

Into the final week now. Definitely got three Cream Legbars growing well and two Marans. Fingers crossed they all hatch next weekend

Day 19 today and one of the Cream Legbars has pipped She obviously takes after my Ancona who arrived early too I hope she unzips herself quickly, I'm dying to see her. With so many cockerels my luck just has to change sooner or later And at least I'll know when I see it if it is a girl or not

She's beautiful And I can hear cheeping from some of the other eggs so with any luck she'll have company before long. It's not day 21 until tomorrow though so she migt have to wait until then.

A very noisy Cuckoo Marans has arrived I knew it had hatched before I'd even reached the incy because it was cheeping so much Cream Legbar girl is just gazing at it in disbelief
