chickenopolis
We have a cube for our two girls and in the poo trays I usually put wood shavings, just so any nasty smells can be absorbed at night - and it makes poo picking first thing in the morning a lot quicker! Well, today when going to Pets at Home ( so nearly bought a couple of guinea pigs)..I saw some lavender scented wood shavings, which I knew I had to buy to keep our girls sweet smelling. Has anyone else tried these?? Going to put them in the cube tomorrow when I do my weekly "hutch wash".
docsquid
I haven't used those, but hemcore comes pre-scented with Citronell and the hen house smells lovely. Lavender is my favourite scent, so I might indulge at some point.
scrambledhead
Would it be cheaper to just sprinkle on some lavender oil?
patsylabrador
Hello, I grow quite a lot of lavender at allotment, and picked loads of it when the insects had finished with it. I spread it around coop and run and it smells lovely. The chickens also eat/play with it.
Redwing
The Pets at Home scented wood shavings smell of plastic bags to me I tried them and wouldnt bother They are also hard to break up from the 'bale' (broken nail anyone?) I would buy an alternative and spray wth essential oil as suggested above
