+++eggstatic+++
The WIR is almost finished. Photos to follow !! The arrives in three weeks eeeek !! Even OH is beginning to show some excitement. Sadly, he still will not let me have the chickens until my birthday in Jan!! My next job is to compile a shopping list so I am now looking for help. We are completely new to this, so everything from essentials to frivilous purchases is needed. Please post your recommendations here. By the way, my WIR has a concrete floor, bedding advice a must, and I know we need to treat the WIR with a redmite treatment, but which one is best. Look forward to hearing from you all Love Rachel xx soon to be home to
The Dogmother
If you pop to the FAQ section, there's a shopping list there.

CluckyBucks
Hello there I would recommend diatomacious earth from the omlet shop, its very good and kills off lice and mites. i would also recommend that you stock up on seedless grapes, chickens ADORE these And dont forget the basics like layers pellets, mixed corn, mealworms, bedding, water holders and feeders. A treat ball is optional but i find that my girls love it I hope you write a super-long shopping list filled with useful chickeny things Good luck with it all xx xx
Chicken Shirl
Welcome the the world of chickens. Good luck with the shopping list. You are good to wait till Juanuary for your hens. Still, not long now is it. What breed will you get?

Lavenders_Blue
I asked the same question before I got my girls. Here's what I bought to get me started: House and run (fairly obvious!) Wood chip for floor of run Feeders Drinkers Layers mash Mixed poultry grit Woodshavings for nest box Poultry shield for cleaning Dustpan and brush for cleaning out house Heavy duty rubber gloves/marigolds Hope I haven't missed anything there. I spotted some mealworms on offer in Wilkos after I had had my girls a couple of weeks and bought them - they go potty for them so I would definitely class that as a 'must have' too!
