Sarahsausage
My friend sadly lost two out of her three ex-batts recently and managed to find a Columbian blacktail looking for a home to keep the remainder, Flo, company. The two girls got on straight away! There were a couple of inquisitive pecks from Flo but after that they were best of friends! Is this a rarity!!?? If only all introductions were as easy! I'm getting a couple more ex-batts on the 12th and will be quite nervous about what Betty and Gladys will think! (I've got a separate coop for the newbies don't worry )
CluckyBucks
Thats great that they got on so quickly I hope that your new additions settle down quickly too xx xx
KennandHelen
When Nando died we went out and bought a young 21 week old Hen to replace her (Drumstick). The original exbatts seemed wary of her and stayed together and away from Drumstick. However over time, I think about a week or two, she had settled in nicely and now gets on really well with the others. Whenever the next one passes we plan on waiting for the next rescue as myself and Helen got loads of pleasure from giving the exbatts some joy in their life after having such a bad start. Pikey
My original two, Haystack and Big Mouth got on straight away....a few pecks and that was it. The two ex batts - well that was another matter.......it was WW3 when they were together and then WW4 when introduced to the original two. However it didn't last long and found best to do introductions when free ranging. Still have a few squabbles though
Sarahsausage
Yes Pikey, was thinking that would be the best way to mix them first, bit of free-ranging after they've been eye-balling each other for a week or so! Can't wait to get my new girls!
