4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

I am rather worried as Sam today has eaten a very large strip of silicon sealant from my sliding door which backs directly on our garden.

 

My husband tried to stop her running in just his pants around the garden but she ate a very large strip of it about 15cms. Will she pass this or will I have to take her to the vets?

 

She seems fine but I have put them in to stop them doing this as she tried to pull of another bit to eat. How can I stop her doing this longer term?

 

I wouldn't mind but I have been giving her live meal worms for the last few days and now she wants to eat plastic.

I'm sure this was posted about before and the chicken is question was fine. I remember a hen eating a hair band once too. Just keep a close eye on her and hopefully she will be ok. Fingers crossed

Starfish did the same about 8-10 weeks back found it while worm hunting in the wood chip path she's been fine but I've never found it in the poo and it was a good 6-8inch long

Mine have had a nibble at plastic carrier bags with no ill effects .

aleast wet silicone taste horrible but I'd hate to be the one to clean it off a chicken bad enough getting it off me

I will keep an eye on her to make sure is ok for the next few days

On a less serious note, was I the only one laughing my head off at the thought of your husband chasing a chicken round the garden in his pants?? Bless him, he obviously loves the chooks! lol

I missed this yesterday! Clarry ate a great big lump of silicone sealant (mouse sized - I think she thought her luck was in!) shortly after we got her and she went on to live for 3 more years so I'm sure your girl will be OK .
