G'day All 8)

Just to say I'm back from a month in South Australia and Melbourne to find you've all had the wettest November ever, whilst I've been basking in SA's hottest November ever!

Enough of that already. I just wanted to say hello, to confess I didn't miss my chooks (I realise I may be drummed out by admitting this) because there was so much else to see, but I did get a fix of poultry by a) chicken whispering my brothers hens (friendliest girls in the world) and simultaneously reading Australian Practical Poultry and Vogue whilst in a library - where I was meant to be looking up sharks as there'd been an attack on our local beach!

And when I got home my girls have all feathered up after the moult, they look magnificent and huge, Harold the cockeral is back to being all sweetness and light, and I realise that I've been saying no more chooks till after my holidays.....and now it is after my holidays :D

I hope all is well with everybody. I shall spend quite a bit of today and tomorrow catching up with the posts, can't wait

Unfortunately not but my sister in law made their house which is sturdy and impressive and painted in various shades of leftover paint (no pix of that either I'm afraid) and the other good news is that she wants pure breeds next (currently 2 warrens and a silkie - apparently these are very toddler-proof!) and is thinking of australorps or RIRs. Orps (sort of) will rule the world! It was noticeable that people kept chooks much more in Victoria and the cool bits of SA than in the majority of SA - I guess because of the heat.

I also did some chatting with a honey farmers wife - he had 300 hives!

Funny you should say that as my BIL leaves in Melbourne and has chickens :D i should have asked you to wave at my eldest daughter as she is staying with him at the moment during a year over there :D

I bet she'll miss you too - how old is she? My 18 yo nephew has just arrived for a year with my bro. We never had opportunities like that when I was a teenager, they're so lucky!

I really didn't get all that Christmas stuff, decorations, santa's sleigh being pulled by kangaroos, giant fake trees being displayed on lamp-posts because you can't see them properly as you're blinded by the sun! Glitter and neon needs a grey background!

Prawns ..... barbies....bar humbug

I'm back too! Didn't set my son and family up with chickens in the end as they are getting a puppy and we decided the order should be, dog +training THEN the chickens.

Missing the family and the weather there, although apparently it's rained constantly since I left Melbourne. Best bit of coming back was the upgrade to business class for the 14 hour first leg to Dubai!

My chickens are all well - and OH is now well and truly trained in their care! So a bonus.

Now spending my jet lag going through all the posts I've missed!

Hi Tricia - you lucky thing, the flight is sooooo boring isn't it (not helped by the fact I threw up most of the way there). Hearing about the weather makes me a feel a bit better - my OH is really pining for the sun. I'm only just managing to stay up past 9 - and I've been back a week now
