Our day trip!

Recommended Posts

Are you back yet Emma?

I've just come back from Worcester on the train, and a very lovely journey it was too! Lots of frost in the fields and spotted a house from the train with what looked like an observatory in the back garden. Great view of the Malverns behind the cathedral as we approached the station in Worcester.

There are quite a few Christmassy themed shops in Worcester, and I was compelled to mooch down Reindeer Court, because of the name. There's a great cookware shop too, and another selling lots of Yankee Candles and Cath Kidston too!

I managed to buy a beautiful purple patent brand new Red Herring bag in one of the charity shops for £6.95, my Christmas present to myself :D

Anyone else grabbed any bargains today?

We are off to Manchester tomorrow to the Xmas markets & for a bit of Xmas shopping. I can't wait. Just don't tell my husband that I'm planning on popping in the Abakhan wool shop! :shh::wink:

A few Gluhweins & plenty to eat & I can get him to do anything & go anywhere! Ha ha! :D

The Abakhan shop is in Oldham street, one of the streets on the right, opposite Piccadilly gardens & a right flippin' walk!

I only bought a pack of funky wool for £6.99 & got another pack free. Oh & some ribbon to make some of 'Kirstie's' roses!

The Xmas markets are as good as ever - we really loved the Albert Square one in front of the town hall. I love Zippy the Father Xmas!

The atmosphere is great & it wasn't very busy on a week day!It was much better than going at the weekend (as before).

We found the best Gluhwein to be next to the Dutch mini pancake stall. There are a couple of older German ladies selling it & it blows your head off!

For lunch we went to the traditinal German Pan stall & had paprika pork & onions, with bacon potatoes. Mmmmmmmmmm Washed down with another Gluhwein!

We bought some puddings in a tub to take home with us. delicious steamed puddings & some chocolate cheesecakes. They have tasters too everyone! Very very droolworthy.

We then walked down Brazennose Street, trying some silly hats on along the way. :D On to St.Anns square. Found a gorgeous glass bauble stall there & had another Gluhwein - kept the mug from this one as it was a red German one!

Some very nice gifts on this market! - back down exchange street & to the big wheel. Whoa it makes your head dizzy!

There are some nice craft stalls this year near the wheel!

We then saw two wags come out of the Louis Vuitton shop - loaded with bags. Very funny to see & very overdressed!

We then spent ages in Selfridges. We love that place - the food halls are excellent! That sushi bar is so much fun. Little dishes of this & that going round, quite mesmerizing! Bought some posh chocolates & 2 jars of marshmallow fluff from there!

We then went in Primark. Hubby got a pair of jeans & a whacky shirt & I got some sparkly ballerina shoes & a cute shrug . Got back just after 6pm..photos to follow!

Sounds (and looks) like a really good day. I only live 1/2 train journey from Manchester yet i've never been to the Christmas markets. It sounds like a really nice day out and something different from usual shopping places.

Does it get really busy at weekends? I think one of my sisters would love it especially because it would mean a train journey to get there(she hasn't been on a train for ages and really wants to go on one!)

I've only been to the markets once, last year on a Saturday when we had our Omlet meet.

We're meeting up tomorrow at 11am outside Kendal's main doors, if you'd like to join us? See the get togethers thread for more details.
